Brief
Description of project: Cement is produced by burning a mixture of raw
materials comprising mainly of limestone and clay in large rotary kilns
at temperatures above 1450 oC. This process results information of
clinker which together with gypsum and other materials upon grinding to
high fineness is transformed into cement. The CO2 – emissions form
cement manufacture originates from: a. The burning process, which
requires flame temperatures above 2000oC and where large qualities of
fuel are burnt. b. The de-carbonation of limestone which is the main
component in the raw materials for the burning process (CaCO3 = CaO +
CO2) c. Electricity consumption in manufacturing process. d. Other use
of energy for non—site transport, lighting, heating, etc. NCC contains 4
lines: - line 1 wet process with productivity 240,000 tons/year & heavy
oil consumption of 55,000 ton/year, line 2 wet process with productivity
300,000 ton/year & is operated by NG, line 3&4 are similar dry process
with productivity 2,300,000 tons/year, their furnaces are operated by
NG, but their dryers are working by heavy oil with consumption of
150,000 ton /year. The activities of the project are as follows: Fuel
switching in line No. 1 and the dryers of lines No. 3&4, with total
heavy oil consumption of 205,000 ton/year. Limestone substitution up to
10% in line No. 1 with productivity 240,000 tons/year. Brief Description
of Technology: Fuel switching and installation of additional
homogenizing facilities, hoppers, weigh feeders and transportation
equipment such as loaders, belt conveyors etc. |
