Brief
Description of project: • The zafarana wind power plant project is a
project located in the Arab Republic of Egypt. • The wind plant consists
of 4 clusters: 1. 30 MW wind cluster in cooperation with DANIDA of
Denmark which started operation in 2000. 2. 33 MW wind cluster in
cooperation with KFW of Germany, which started operation in 2001 as
phaseI. 3. 30 MW wind cluster in cooperation with DANIDA, which started
operation in 2003. 4. 47 MW wind cluster in cooperation with KFW, which
started operation in 2004. • The project generated 515,740 MWh of
electricity in 2005. • The yearly CO2 abatement in 2005 reached about
290,000 tCO2e. Brief description of technology: The project implemented
proven and reliable technology with technical specification as follows:
• Clusters 1 & 2 utilizes Nordex wind turbines type N43 3 bladed having,
600 KW rated capacity, 43 meter diameter, 40 m hub height, stall –
regulated. • Clusters 3 & 4 utilizes Vestas wind turbines type V47 3
bladed, 660 KW rated capacity, 47 meters diameter, 45 meters hub height
& pitch – regulated.. |
