Brief
Description of project: • The zafarana wind power plant project is a
project located in the Arab Republic of Egypt to be implemented in
cooperation with Spain. • It is an 85 MW wind power generation project
located in an area with favorable wind conditions expected to have a
capacity factor of around 45% resulting in about 335,000 MWh of
electricity annually. The project is to be developed by the New &
Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) of Egypt. • The minimum plant
operating life is 20 years. The project is to provide Zero green house
gas (GHG) emission power, while the wind generated electricity, will
contribute to GHG reduction of about 180,000 tCO2e Brief description of
technology: The overall wind farm capacity is 85MW employing wind
turbines from GAMESA type G52-850 of 850 KW capacity each, 3 blades
pitch controlled and double fed variable speed induction generators
operating in site of 9.3m/s wind speed. |
